An animal shelter is a facility where homeless animals are housed, cared for, and are made available for adoption. They may be operated by the government, a humane society, private individuals, or a combination of these. Some are funded by donations alone, while others receive tax money.

At professionally run facilities, frightened animals are reassured, sick and injured animals receive treatment or a peaceful end to their suffering, and the animals’ living quarters are kept clean and dry.

Many self-professed rescue outfits are the site of horrific cruelty to animals. Some “rescue” groups collect tens of thousands of dollars to attend breeder auctions. These groups can then sell dogs for exorbitant fees to buyers who want a specific breed, and use the funds to continue breeding dogs.

Many owners fail to spay or neuter their dogs and cats, creating enormous numbers of kittens and puppies. People acquire companion animals without considering the lifetime commitment caring for them. Eventually, owners turn their backs on their loyal companions when they become “inconvenient” or “too much work”.

They provide animals with food, water, and medical care; protection from the elements; relief from suffering; and a caring human presence. Many times, these animals would have nowhere else to turn.

Adopting an animal means making a long-term commitment to care for and spend time with the animal. Before adopting, consider the time and money involved in proper animal care. Be aware of local, state, and federal regulations that govern animal “ownership”.

Having your pet spayed or neutered can save hundreds of thousands of animals from suffering and death. Getting spay/neuter laws passed saves even more lives. Help end the need to euthanize animals for lack of good homes by supporting open-admission shelters.

You are a blessed soul to be a help to all these souls. personally I am scared of dogs and might never be able to help anyone of them, but I get a lot of inspiration from you and keep pausing your efforts on helping such souls... I think and believe that people who love animals are the real human being because they can feel the pain.

ANURADHA MISHRA

Hey,  I am Anuradha Mishra since I was sixteen, I have  been rescuing stray dogs from the streets, taking them to doctors for treatment and creating a better life for them. I used to see many dogs who are inborn blind or differently-abled or have been paralyzed in accidents. The dog shelters thought it better to kill them off within seconds with an injection, in an attempt to relieve them from their pain and struggles. It really pained me and motivated me to do some work for these speechless souls so here I am currently I am running shelter home situated in Noida where we take care of more than 100 animals.
